Outsourcing Transition Support
- Provided support for a complex transition to a multi-sourced enviornment
Challenge
Amtrak has recently moved to a multi-sourced environment for their IT infrastructure – which includes seat management, data center support, voice and network support. Amtrak was migrating from a single-vendor supported environment and needed assistance with managing the transition. Octo Consulting Group was brought into support the sourcing transition to ensure that end-users were not impacted during the transition and that service levels would be maintained.
Approach
Octo approached this problem by first doing a detailed review of the contracts that the new vendors were transitioning into, and by working closely with Amtrak stakeholders on understanding the biggest risk areas for the transition. Octo provided a PM that lead a daily transition coordination call to ensure that all of the projects tasks were on track and that any issues or risks were addressed early.
Solutions
- Provided the overall program and transition management of the 5 towers and delivery responsibility over the IT outsource vendors. This role reports directly to the CTO and involves ensuring the delivery of the project goals.
